Young Legal Aid Lawyers was elated to receive an outstanding achievement award from LAPG at their silver jubilee Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards on 23 June 2009. The awards ceremony took place at the Cumberland Hotel near Marble Arch and was followed by a champagne reception.

To mark 25 years since the creation of the Legal Aid Practitioners Group and the 60th anniversary of the Legal Aid Act, LAPG is hosting a special Silver Jubilee Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards ceremony - please come along and celebrate the achievements of legal aid!
This is one of the original law centres and is still much in demand. It is facing nil payments from the LSC because of a perceived debt of £288,000 which will force it to close. Prem Ahluwahlia (YLAL Committee) coordinated a petition against its closure. Carolyn Regan (LSC) responded to our input in an e-mail dated 22 May as follows:
