This is a demanding and challenging role for law graduates with a genuine interest in law and civil liberties. The successful candidates may be offered training contracts after the mandatory probation period. We are looking for candidates for our immigration and civil liberties/criminal defence teams so the candidates should state their preference.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with a broad spectrum of legal work and will be expected to have significant input to files from an early stage. This may include; taking instructions from clients, drafting witness statements, assisting with letters of claim and applications and liaising with Counsel.
Following a probation period, the successful candidate may be asked to have responsibility for their own files.
The candidates should have:
•Excellent drafting skills
•Commitment to the rule of law and human rights
•Determination to apply legal principles irrespective of the clients’ circumstances and background
•Understanding of the UK immigration and prison systems.
•Understanding of legal aid.
Successful candidates will be expected to:
•Obtain professional accreditations such as IAAS level 2
•Work on complex public and private law challenges
•Progress and qualify as solicitors

The advertised salary is limited only to the first 12 months. After that, the standard remuneration scheme may apply. More information is available on our website. Candidates who do not send a cover letter with their CV will not be considered.
Salary: £16000 in the first year.
