Kesar & Co Solicitors are looking for a paralegal assistant with a serious and lasting interest in the rule of law and human rights. Applicants should have excellent drafting skills but also a lot of understanding and compassion, as the majority of our clients are foreign nationals and serving prisoners. IAAS accreditation (level 1 or 2) is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will receive practical training and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all areas of immigration law including public law challenges at the senior courts.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage with a broad spectrum of legal work and will be expected to have significant input to files from an early stage. This will include taking instructions from clients, drafting witness statements, assisting with letters of claim and applications, and liaising with counsel.
The successful candidate may be offered a training contract after the probation period, subject to performance assessment.
The candidates should also have:
- Commitment to the rule of law and human rights
- Determination to apply legal principles irrespective of the clients’ circumstances and background
- Understanding of legal aid
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Work on complex public and private law challenges
- Progress and qualify as solicitors
Salary: £16,778 in the first year
The advertised salary is limited only to the first 12 months. After that, the paralegal maybe able to progress to be a caseworker if they go above and beyond, and the standard remuneration scheme may apply. More information is available on our website regarding this remuneration scheme.
