Bhatt Murphy is seeking two paralegals to join its team for a fixed term of 10 months. The successful candidates will be supporting lawyers representing a group of people detained at Manston in 2022, and an NGO supporting asylum seekers.
The Manston Inquiry will investigate and report on the decisions, actions and circumstances which led to the conditions encountered by those detained at the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility between 1 June 2022 and 22 November 2022. The conditions at that time were overcrowded, unsanitary and unsafe and the Inquiry will address whether the risks of illegality or actual illegality were tolerated and why that was the case.
Applicants should have a strong interest in migrants’ rights and some relevant prior work experience, preferably gained in a law firm.
