Legal Aid Bill: Pair Up With a Peer

Campaign group Justice For All, with the assistance of YLAL, has set up a “pair up with a peer” scheme. The idea is to encourage people to get in contact with members of the House of Lords who share their interests, to express their concerns over the cuts to legal aid in the Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill.

YLAL is encouraging all its members to get involved!

Campaigners are letting Lords know how important free legal advice is, as the Legal Aid Bill moves through the House of Lords.

If you can spare a little time over the next few months to get to know a peer well please email us at pairupwithapeer@justice-for-all.org.uk

No experience needed but help us match you up by including a brief summary of your relevant background (eg if you’re a lawyer or have been helped by advice) and your areas of interest in the Bill (for example disability issues or children’s rights).

We’re asking for more than just a few clicks – we’re hoping you will be able to email and write to your peer several times, perhaps even talk on the phone or meet them in person.

We’ll then send you materials and guidance on what to do next.
