Position: Entry-Level Paralegal – Asylum and Human Rights

Pay: £20k – £25k depending on experience

Role Overview: We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Paralegal. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent law graduate with a passion for social justice and a desire to pursue a career in legal aid. As a Paralegal, you will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload under the supervision of experienced solicitors, working closely with asylum seekers and individuals seeking protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open files in the case management system and maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise with the Home Office and other relevant authorities on behalf of clients.
  • Take detailed statements from clients relating to their reasons for claiming asylum.
  • Organize interpreters and other necessary support services for clients.
  • Prepare clients for interviews and hearings, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
  • Advise clients on the merits of their case and assist in the preparation of legal documents and submissions.

Requirements:

  • A law degree.
  • A strong desire to pursue a career in legal aid and a passion for social justice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own caseload effectively.
  • Previous experience working with asylum seekers or in a similar field is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a law firm or legal environment is beneficial.
  • A master’s degree and/or any IAAS accreditations would be advantageous.
