Immigration Advisory Service forced to close – 10th July 2011

YLAL deeply regrets the closure of the Immigration Advisory Service, which will leave thousands of vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers without support.

Article by Steve Medley, YLAL member and formerly a caseworker at IAS, available here.

The closure of IAS follows on nearly a year to the day from the closure of the charity Refugee and Migrant Justice owing to financial difficulties. As the Government proposes cutting back ever further to the fees which such organisations are paid to help vulnerable individuals, the risk of more such closures is increasing.
