Judicial Review – YLAL response
The government has issued a consultation paper proposing changes to judicial review procedure, responses to which must be submitted by 24 January 2013. Although initially launched with reference to planning law, there are many proposed changes that would drastically affect many aspects of public law challenges. This includes the proposal to change the time limit for “continuing breach cases” to run from the very start of the breach.
Our Save Legal Aid Campaign has posted a blog by Alice Cullingworth on some of the statistics relied on by the government to push through the reforms.
YLAL has submitted its response to the Ministry of Justice highlighting our concerns with the proposals and this can be downloaded below.
Members are encouraged to respond directly to the Ministry of Justice consultation by completing the online survey.
Thank you to all our members who contributed to and helped with the preparation of the YLAL response.
