Not the Global Law Summit
This year it is the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. The Government is organising an event to mark this occasion called the “Global Law Summit” which will draw attention to the British justice system for an international audience.
The Justice Alliance, an umbrella group of charities and campaign groups formed to campaign against cuts to legal aid, is organising an alternative that will focus on people not business. Its “Not the Global Law Summit” will take place at the same time, and is designed to remind the world about the reality of coalition attacks on access to justice while in Government, which have done nothing to enhance the rule of law. You can read more about the plans in this recent Guardian article.
