Sternberg Reed (Various Locations / Hybrid) – Family Paralegal

Salary: £25,600 – £28,000 dependant on experience

Location: most roles are from our Barking office, with one position in Grays and one in Romford. All positions offered with hybrid working, usually three days in the office and two days at home following a settling in period.

Sternberg Reed is a well established and reputable law firm with offices in Barking, Grays, Romford and Canterbury.  Our dedicated team of legal professionals is committed to providing compassionate and effective legal services to our clients.  We are currently seeking motivated and detail-oriented Paralegals to join our Family team.

As a Family Paralegal at Sternberg Reed you will play a crucial role in supporting our fee earners in all aspects of family law cases.  Responsibilities include responding to new client calls, conducting legal research, drafting correspondence / documents and communicating directly with clients and other professionals. This position requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist fee earners in preparing for hearings, trials and client meetings.
  • Preparing court bundles and accompanying documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information.
  • Liaise with the Legal Aid Agency, courts, experts, counsel, attending client appointments, taking notes, assisting in arranging conferences.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits and agreements.
  • Maintain and organise case files and client records.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the department.

Qualifications:

  • 2.1 or above law degree or equivalent level of education.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience, in family law.
  • Strong understanding of family law procedure and terminology.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Experience with a Law Case Management system, P4W would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in a busy legal environment with legal aid and CCMS.

  • High level of attention to details and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
