YLAL introduction to legal aid, 12th October 2011 and CHANGE TO TIME OF MONTHLY MEETING

YLAL is putting on an informal "introduction to legal aid" at Doughty Street Chambers on 12th October 2011. The talk/training session is particularly aimed at those just starting the GDL/LPC/BPTC who would like to know more about legal aid. The session will provide a brief outline of the history of legal aid, how the current legal aid system works and what the system may look like after the enactment of the Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill. The session will be led by Laura Janes (founder of YLAL and consultant solicitor at Scott-Moncrieff & Associates and the Howard League for Penal Reform) and Connor Johnston (co-chair of YLAL).

The session will start at 1800. It will be followed by the monthly YLAL meeting at 1900 (please note: not the normal time of 1830). New members are particularly welcome to stay on for the meeting.
