YLAL Meetings

New members are welcome to come along to our meetings. There is no need to confirm your attendance – just turn up. There’s no obligation to talk at the meetings – just come along and observe if you’ve never been to a meeting before and are nervous about speaking. On the other hand if you have lots to say, feel free to come along and say it!

London Meetings

We normally meet every second Wednesday of the month. Meetings start at 6.30pm.

Our next London meeting is at Doughty Street Chambers on Wednesday 8 April 2015 from 6.30 pm. The address is 54 Doughty Street London, WC1N 2LS. A location map is here.

We will be holding an event in Kent on Tuesday 21st April from 6-8pm with speakers including Oliver Saxby QC (criminal barrister), Karen Todner (director of Kaim Todner and representative of Gary McKinnon), Nick Fairweather (director of a family and mental health law firm) and Louise Duckett (Kent JLD). The event will be chaired by YLAL’s Subashini Nathan (YLAL and paralegal at Birnberg Peirce and Partners). YLAL Newcastle

There will be an event on legal aid hosted by the JLD on 26th March at 6pm at the Northumbria University Law School at which YLAL member and barrister Marian Cleghorn is speaking. We hope we may be able to meet anyone interested in joining a new YLAL group there.

YLAL in the north (Yorkshire/Lancashire/Derbyshire) 

Our next meeting in Manchester will be on Monday 23 March at 6.30pm with Chris Hoskin from the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) talking about how you can qualify as a lawyer through work based learning. We will also be talking about top tips for effective lobbying of MPs about access to justice issues.

The venue is Blavo & Co. To find it head to Piccadilly train station. Just before reaching the main entrance you will notice a footpath which goes over a road. Head down over the footpath and our office is in the building 3 Piccadilly Place on the left (Pita Pit is on the right hand side).  Blavo & Co is on the 11th floor. See a map here.
